For 117 days in the Spring of 2006 Marni Shindelman recorded every Google search she made. Inmates + Kittens is the chronicle, a self-portrait of the language meant to mine the internet. The person revealed in the book is a combination of Marni's unique searches and the wide-ranging results they yielded. Additionally, Marni includes a flipbook in which a hand is petting a cat. What renders from the pairing of these two reading paths, one purely physical, based on touch, and the other in language, relative to the virtual, is a portrayal of an artist trying to understand interaction. |
